GHANA

SIGHTSEEING AND CULTURAL PICNIC
18th November 2010
From Kumasi, we head southeastwards towards cape coast to
join the Trans Atlantic slave route of the 16th and the 18th
Centuries. A site for many Africans in the Diaspora seeking
their cultural homeland in Africa.
We join the slave market at Assin Manso where slaves from
interior Gold Coast (now Ghana) were resold and taken to
Cape Coast and Elmina Castle to be transported to Europe and
the Americas. We visit the “Nnonkonsu” where the slaves had
their final bath including other interesting places such as
the Garden of Remembrance and the Caravan Route.
We head further southwards to visit the “cultural Village”
of Mmasomagor. A village famous for its Bamboo Orchestra. We
head towards Cape Coast in the evening and spend a relaxing
night at the Coconut Grove Beach Resort sited on the
tropical Atlantic Beach.
